MTT Group’s journey began in 1963 with the establishment of Malaysia Trade & Transport Co. Sdn. Bhd. by the late Dato Ong Chin Teik. As a pioneer in barging, stevedoring, and shipping, we laid the foundation for what would become a dynamic and diversified enterprise.
Building on this strong heritage, Dato Seri Kenny Ong expanded our logistics capabilities in 1988 with the founding of Priority Cargo Sdn. Bhd. and Priority Bonded Warehouse Sdn. Bhd., offering comprehensive and integrated logistics solutions. This momentum continued with the establishment of Priority Synergy Sdn. Bhd. in 1994, strengthening our presence across Malaysia and beyond.
In 1995, under the visionary leadership of Dato Seri Kenny Ong, MTT Group entered a new era of expansion and diversification. By 1996, we had relocated to our prestigious 13-storey headquarters, symbolizing our continued growth. The new millennium saw the Group extend its reach into township and property development with the incorporation of MTT Properties & Development Sdn. Bhd. in 2005, creating thriving, sustainable communities.

As our first school, POWIIS Balik Pulau was inaugurated with the esteemed blessing of Her Royal Highness Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah. Today, it stands as a premier international institution, delivering world-class education and fostering the next generation of leaders and innovators.
In 2019, we expanded our educational footprint with the launch of POWIIS Tanjung Bungah, further strengthening our commitment to providing exceptional learning experiences from early childhood through secondary education. Despite our expansion into new sectors, we remain deeply committed to our roots in logistics. In 2010, we established MTT Shipping Sdn. Bhd. to own and operate a fleet of container vessels, enhancing domestic shipping services and reinforcing our reputation as a trusted logistics partner.

MTT Hospitality Sdn Bhd, a distinguished division of the MTT Group of Companies, is proud to announce its strategic partnership with the esteemed Pan Pacific Hotels Group. This significant alliance was celebrated in a grand signing ceremony, heralding a new chapter for Penang’s hospitality scene.
Starting 1st September 2024, the beloved Evergreen Laurel Hotel, which was acquired in March 2024, will embark on an exciting journey, rebranding as the Gurney Bay Hotel, A PARKROYAL Partner Hotel. During this transition, the hotel will continue to welcome guests while undergoing a comprehensive transformation. Within the next 18 to 24 months, the hotel will emerge as the fully reimagined PARKROYAL Gurney Bay Hotel, setting a new standard for luxury and comfort in Penang.
This transformation is strategically aligned with the rising demand for premium hospitality in Penang. As the island draws an ever-growing number of international visitors, this partnership will be instrumental in enhancing Penang’s reputation as a top-tier travel destination.
